CHAPTER 2

Jumpily Sho broke the kiss with Michiru and turned to the direction from which he thought the voice had come. His eyes widened out of shock when he realized that Ohno was standing just a few meters away from them on the street for real. One thought shot to his mind: Did the older one see how he and Michiru just…? It took Sho a moment till he found his voice back. “Ohno, I can explain that... it’s not what it…” but Ohno interrupted him with a slightly broken voice. “I’m sorry, I didn’t want to interr.. Anyway, eto, you had forgotten your mobile at the studio”. Helplessly he rummaged around his bag till he finally found the mobile and held it out to Sho. “I just wanted to give it back to you, cause I knew where you wanted to go drinking. But if I had known that you…” His gaze wandered to Michiru, who was slightly hiding behind Sho. “…I could have given it to you tomorrow.” The older one scratched the back of his head awkwardly. Sho knew that he had to say something, but he was not able to find any right words. “Well, I don’t want to disturb you anymore... see you tomorrow then!” Ohno squeezed the mobile phone into the younger ones hand, looked at Michiru one more time, than at Sho and finally turned away with a smile. But no one, except for Ohno himself, knew that this smile was the most dishonest and forced smile that had ever appeared on his face.

While Ohno was diverging more and more from both of them, Shos thoughts tumbled. This situation was too much for him. Not only that he was now fully aware of his feelings – that was already reason enough to throw him off track – no, of all things Ohno had to appear right at that moment when he and Michiru had kissed. What now? What should he do now? It surely was the most reasonable and easiest way to just let Riida go, because the older one surely wouldn’t return his feelings. And Sho was also aware that a relationship with a man was a thing that his parents would never ever accept. That would be too much of a scandal. He realized the full complication that came along with his feelings, but no, he couldn’t just stand here and watch Riida leaving. He had to do something! Without fail he had to catch up with Ohno and explain the situation to him. Even though he might not be able to tell him his feelings, Ohno still had to come to know that Sho had no feelings towards Michiru.

Without paying anymore attention to his female friend Sho began to run. Ohno was already a fair way off so it took quite a while until the younger had caught up with him.

„Ohno please wait!! Wait, please!!“ gasping he stopped a few meters behind the older one who only stopped after hearing the second please.

“Listen Ohno, that is a big misunderstanding…” While Sho was saying that, Ohno turned around and looked at him with tired eyes. “It’s ok, you don’t need to..” But this time it was Sho who interrupted the other.

“No, it’s not ok! I don’t want that you have a perverted picture of me, Ohno.” He faltered a bit, his heart began to beat faster … should he say it or not? So much was on the line … would Ohno understand? Or would their friendship maybe even break apart because of it? The best would be to say it indirectly. Yes, now or never. Once again he raised his voice “Cause you…” ‘really mean a lot to me’ that was how he wanted to end the sentence, but those words would never leave his lips.

‘Cause at that very moment there was a loud honk and tire squeal which let Sho freeze. Till now he had not realized that he stood right in the middle of the street and he also had not realized that a car had turned around the corner and came speeding towards him.

When Sho became aware of the situation in which he was right now, the only thing he could do was to stare at the approaching car in shock. His legs felt like they were out of stone and they didn’t want to move anymore. Sho knew there was no way out. Out of fear he closed his eyes and waited for the things that would happen next.

It took a bit, but then he felt how his feet were lifted up from the ground, for a short time he flew through the air and then finally he fell on the ground again. But something was strange… he had imagined that being hit by a car might be much worse. Shos back and his head hurt a little bit but that wasn’t really bad. Slowly he opened his eyes again and worriedly looked down at his body. Only his elbows were scraped up but apart from that there was no blood to be seen. Carefully he touched his head. Except for headaches that appeared because of the collision there was also nothing wrong. But suddenly he paused… the car .. the car that technically should have hit him stood sidewards a few meters away from him. With presentiment Shos gaze went slowly along the car. Fear spread within him. Fear that became worse with every centimeter his gaze went further… and then he froze. No matter what pain, no matter what ordeal, Sho would have taken it all if it had spared him from seeing that sight .. cause there he saw Ohno.

Ohno who was lying on the ground behind the car, unconscious. And a pool of blood that spread more and more.

Out of the corner of his eye Ohno had also seen the car coming. But in contrast to Sho, his senses worked exactly like he wanted. Without thinking twice he had begun to run as fast as he could. When Riida had reached Sho he had pushed the younger aside with all his strength he could bring up. But for himself there was no way out anymore.
